How GigProfit Calculates Net Income — Our Methodology
Transparent methodology, open calculations, and sourced tax rates
How Calculations Work
GigProfit calculates your net income by starting with your gross invoice amount, subtracting platform commissions (Upwork 10%, Fiverr 20%, Freelancer 10%, Direct 0%), deducting business costs (software, tools, equipment), and then applying the relevant tax rules for your jurisdiction. The result is your take-home pay after all deductions.
Our calculator uses the same methodology across all platforms, making it easy to compare your net income across Upwork, Fiverr, Freelancer.com, and direct clients. Each calculation is performed locally on your device — no data is sent to our servers.
Tax Rate Sources
We source tax rates from official government and tax authority websites: - India: 18% GST (Goods and Services Tax) from India Revenue Department - Turkey: 20% KDV (VAT) + 20% Stopaj (Withholding Tax) from Turkish Revenue Administration - USA: 15.3% Self-Employment tax from IRS - UK: 20% VAT from HMRC - And 32+ other jurisdictions with locally-sourced rates
Tax laws change, so always verify the current rates with your local tax authority. Our app is updated regularly, but tax compliance is your responsibility.
Why Client-Side Only
GigProfit performs all calculations on your device — no data is sent to our servers. This means: - Your income and business details stay private - The calculator works offline (after initial load) - No tracking or data collection for profit calculation - Your financial information is never at risk from a server breach
We're committed to transparent, privacy-first financial tools for freelancers worldwide.
